I found this video from a mental_floss article about nightmarish children’s television programming (if you read the full article be sure to check out the “black boy” video.  none of the others really affected me like what i am posting here, though).  i was completely floored that the video below ever made it off the cutting room floor, no less onto public television.  Although it was later banned from TV, i am still beside myself at whoever created this shit.  maybe it’s the mom in me, or the child inside whose father forced her to watch horror movies.  i began watching this video as i was eating my lunch at work, and around the 3:15 minute mark i stopped eating and just held a tiny bite of my sandwich between my thumb and forefinger… i was too stunned to continue chewing.

take a look:

i am a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance… have been since day one!  I am not crazy about waltzes or quicksteps, but hip hop, contemporary, jazz and basically anything that Tyce Diorio or Wade Robson choreographs makes my jaw drop.  i live vicariously through these nimble bodies.

here are my favorite two performances from last night:

i am all about this song today.  i can only take so much corporate douchebaggedness.  yes, i obviously just made up that word but my GOD it is so fitting.

You could have been more
Than a name on the door
On the thirty-third floor in the air
More than a credit card
Swimming pool in the backyard

While you still have the time
You could get away and find
A better life, you know the grind is so ungrateful
Racing cars, whisky bars
No one cares who you really are
You’re the keeper of the cards
Yes I know it gets hard
Keeping the wheels turning
And the wife she keeps the keys
She is so pleased to be
A part of the arrangement

You could have been more
Than a name on the door
On the thirty-third floor in the air
More than a consumer
Lying in some room trying to die
More than a credit card
Swimming pool in the backyard
You could have been more than a name on the door
You could have been more than a name on the door
You could have been more
You could have been more
You could have been more

I am discovering all sorts of phenomenal artists lately. Check out this dude…

Too freaking cool… seriously. Crazy shit. I love it.

i swear i just saw someone walk toward my back door, from inside my house.  split second person-shaped figure out of the corner of my eye.

or maybe i’ve just been reading too much John Connolley.
